You can see the phenakistoscope DEMONSTRATED (that's the word I was looking for in this morning's lecture!) on YouTube in many different videos. Here's one that gives you an idea of what the device accomplishes. Enjoy.

One comment - I do not agree with the warning about nudity for faint hearted - I'm sure that you would not say the same to visitors to Michelangelo's David or give a religious warning for visitors to the Sistene Chapel?
